A Minnesota man miraculously survived getting stabbed so hard by a friend that his organs were showing, according to police.

Minneapolis police were called to an apartment on Tuesday for reports of a stabbing. There, they discovered a man whose organs were reportedly visible because he had been stabbed so hard, according to a criminal complaint obtained by KSTP.

As first responders were transporting the man, the victim told officers he had been stabbed while he was sleeping by his best friend. The victim was transported to the hospital where he received 30 staples.

Police identified the friend as Thomas Allan Jackson, 35, who claimed he stabbed the victim as payback for killing his mother, when confronted by the officers.

Jackson reportedly said while speaking to police the following day that he remembered getting into an argument with the victim, but blacked out from drinking, telling the officers, "I can't remember. I snapped. You basically know everything," according to the complaint obtained by KSTP.

The victim, who said he had smoked marijuana before the incident, reportedly told police that Jackson had been "talking crazy" and mentioned that he was going to murder someone.

Jackson has been charged with second-degree assault.

Drugs and alcohol have contributed to violence across the country in recent months. In October, an Indiana man claimed he could not remember anything after he allegedly ran over a woman in her vehicle while high on meth and Xanax.

In another instance, a Florida man appeared to be drunk when he allegedly cut two people with a machete in a violent outburst.
