Univision has confirmed that the last episode of "Pasión y Poder" will run for 3 hours. The telenovela starring Fernando Colunga, Susana Gonzalez and Jorge Salinas usually airs at 9pm ET/PT but on finale night (Thursday, April 28) it will start at 8pm ET/PT. That same night, Telemundo scheduled Premios Billboard 2016 which will force viewers to choose to watch one live and maybe time shift the other one. "Pasión y Poder" is the Spanish-language network's highest-rated soap at the moment. Telemundo was forced to make changes to their schedule as the Colunga soap consistently beat "Eva, La Trailera" with Edith Gonzalez. The latter melodrama moved to 8pm ET/PT and "La Esclava Blanca" premiered in its place, but at the moment hasn't gained much traction.
"Pasión y Poder" is ending after it won big this weekend on Premios TVyNovelas 2016, the biggest telenovelas award show in Mexico. The José Alberto Castro production won for Best Telenovela of The Year as well as Best Telenovela Cast. Fernando Colunga received an accolade for his role of Eladio Gómez-Luna in the Best Male Antagonist category. Fabiola Guajardo also scored a trophy for her role in this soap, while José Pablo Minor also took home an award.
On "Pasión y Poder," Colunga gives life to Eladio, an attractive man with a fierce and determined personality. He is a business genius, but a chauvinist with Julia, his wife, whom he loves but hasn’t managed to make her love him back. Ever since he was young, he holds a deep grudge against Julia’s former fiancé, Arturo Montenegro, whom he wants to destroy at all costs. He has two children: David, for whom he suspects Julia cheated on him with Arturo, and Franco, fruit of an affair he had with Caridad and whom he denies despite of their similarities.
