Tonight at 7:30 ET Paraguay is looking to end their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying attempt with a solid match against Colombia. Despite their best efforts Paraguay will be missing their first World Cup since 1994. Having already secured a spot in Brazil in 2014 Colombia is gearing up for their first attempt at a World Cup since 1998. It has been 14 years since Colombia has earned a spot in a World Cup. Paraguay has not been able to find a suitable replacement for Gerardo Martino since he left in 2011.

Despite their spot in the 2014 World Cup, tonight's match against Paraguay is still considered important to Colombia. Colombia is still looking to hold onto their top seven spot in the FIFA world rankings. A victory tonight over Paraguay will help them keep their FIFA ranking. Colombia is currently holding the third spot and will need to remain among the top seven in order to get seeded into the first pot of the World Cup. If Colombia manages to keep their top seven spot they will be given better matchups as they head into the World Cup.

Colombia is coming off an impressive win over Chile. On Friday Colombia took on the team from Chile as the favorite for the win but found themselves down 3-0 at the 30-minute mark. The match against Chile saw yellow card after yellow card and eventually Colombia found themselves on the right side of a red card call that gave them a one man advantage during the game. Victory came swiftly following that call with goals from Teofilo Gutierrez as well as two penalty strikes from Radamel Falco.
