The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 15 Latin American films were submitted this year to be considerate as nominees in the foreign-language film category at the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 28, 2016.
Countries around the world were invited to submit one film by October 1, 81 made the cut this year, including first-time entrant Paraguay. The selected motion pictures will be screened for Academy committees, who will be in charge of narrowing the list down to five nominees, which will be announced on January 14, 2016.
