The Orlando massacre has impacted many people around the world, including celebrities such as Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera, who have all used their platforms to show their love and sympathy to the victims and LGBT community. A week after the tragedy that killed 49 innocent lives and is considered the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, "La Voz Kids" has paid tribute to the men and women who passed away in the tragedy.
The Orlando shooting hits close to the Telemundo reality show for many reasons. One of them being that the show is Orlando-based and the other being that one of the victims killed was Jonathan Camuy, a Puerto Rican journalist who worked on "La Voz Kids" as part of the production team. He was considered a hard-working, full-of-life, enthusiastic person with a great personality.
On Sunday night's episode, judges Natalia Jimenez, Pedro Fernandez and Daddy Yankee paid an emotional tribute to the Orlando victims and united their voices to sing Juan Gabriel's "Amor Eterno." They were joined by the young contestants who were holding candles and chanted the chorus.
The Puerto Rican urban artist, who recently sent a loving message to Bryan Lopez, one of the 53 survivors who was wounded in the attack, kicked off the tribute with an emotional rap, where he sent the message of "hate is for the weak and love is for the strong." A teary-eyed Fernandez and Jimenez then shared the stage as they are joined by the contestants.
"You can change the world loving your brother the same, without caring about race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation," continued El Cangri towards the end of the tribute. "We will see each other soon, have a great trip," he signed off as everyone raised their candles.
The very heartwarming tribute was followed by a moment of silence and a presentation of the photos of the 49 victims.
