“The Originals” returns tonight with episode 8 “The River In Reverse” and the growing relationship between Elijah and Hayley is going to take a serious step forward, but not all the Mikaelsons are happy when love is in the air, namely Klaus. Klaus was not happy last we saw him after his older brother accused him of plotting to build an army of hybrid vampires using the blood of his unborn child, apparently this was not Klaus’s intention but you can never really be sure with him. Either way, he was deeply wounded by his brother’s accusations and his alliance with Hayley over him, so Klaus decided to punish him by biting him. Being part werewolf, the bite will severely debilitate Elijah, but lucky for “The Original” Hayley is not going anywhere. In the promo video, Hayley refuses to leave the Bayou and his side. Despite carrying Klaus’s child, Hayley has falling for the other Mikaelson brother, leaving Klaus wounded and maybe even jealous.
But this is less about Hayley and more about his brother choosing another, Klaus also confronts Rebecca to see where her allegiance lies and much to his dismay, she is still fiercely loyal to Elijah. Although, Rebecca doesn’t have much ability to provide aide to her older brother, the only female sibling lives in deep fear of Klaus, who punishes, and stakes his siblings whenever he sees fit. Klaus is not afraid to remind Rebecca of his ruthless power, in a sneak peek video Klaus asks Rebecca, why she has been giving him the “devil eye all morning?” She cautiously replies that she fears his “toxic bite” if she voices her opinion in regards to the brother’s quarrel. Klaus seems hurt by the harsh allegation, insisting he would never bite his sister, however, he does deliver a sinister promise. “You know my preferred method of punishment for you indiscretions is the dagger,” Klaus tells Rebecca, who doesn’t dare even respond.
Jeez! Rebecca really can’t catch a break, Klaus is beginning to act like a caged animal between the Elijah and Hayley relationship and of course his whole plot to take over Marcel’s kingdom has been a bit bumpy. And as his tensions rise, so does his violence level, and as if the hybrid wasn’t scary before, he is starting to get backed into a corner by Marcel, witches, and now even his family.
In a second sneak peek from tonight’s episode “The River In Reverse,” Klaus is seen venting to the only friend he has left, Cami. But after watching for a few moments, the audiences realizes that Klaus is not just speaking but dictating as Cami writes vigorously on an antique typewriter. It seems like Klaus is writing a memoir, but why would the immortal vampire want to leave behind a written record? Perhaps because he is preparing for war!
Episode 8 is when all the tensions and literally fights come to a head, Marcel and Klaus are no longer playing nice with each other. Klaus will be ambushed by his former protégé and his growing army of blood thirsty vampires, but even heavily outnumbered Klaus doesn’t seem worried for his life. In the promo video, Klaus is seen in Marcel’s mansion surrounded by his army although he is the one delivering threats screaming, “You think you can subdue me, with this?” At the end of the promo Klaus is seen with blood dripping from his fangs, but he is caught in chains. I hope that those chains are seriously strong, because that is one pissed off hybrid.
