After a three week search, police have arrested a woman who allegedly stopped performing CPR on her toddler to flee from law enforcement before the child died from suspected fentanyl exposure.

Mary Jacobo fled a NE Portland RV Park with a gun in her possession on Sept. 12, after a roommate called 911 about Jacobo's daughter, 2-year-old Aurora Fernandez, according to KGW.

When authorities arrived, the child was in cardiac arrest. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she died of what police suspect to be a fentanyl overdose.

Jacobo was considered armed and dangerous, and is a suspect in a recent carjacking involving the use of a firearm. She was located Tuesday, hours outside of Portland in Seaside, Oregon, where she was arrested for multiple warrants.

Family members told KGW that Jacobo did not have custody of Aurora when the incident occurred.

"She deserves justice," said Dominique Hodges, Aurora's cousin. "Mary getting captured and having to answer for her crimes and what she did to Aurora — there's no justice, but we can settle for that."
