It has been reported that "Orange is the New Black" cast member Laura Prepon, known for her role in "That 70's Show," will only be returning for one episode in season two. A couple of weeks ago rumors spread that Prepon would have a reduced appearance in "Orange is the New Black" season two but until now no one knew exactly how reduced it would be. News of Prepon's departure from the show was reported by Buzzfeed along with this new information.
The actress will be in the show just long enough to send her character out. At this time it's not clear how they 'll be able to send Alex away from the prison in just one-hour long episode story line in a way that will satisfy the audience. It has been noted that Prepon's final episode has not been shot yet however, the rest of the cast has been filming since July. Perhaps the writers are spending their time figuring out how to remove her without upsetting their fan base?
So why is Prepon leaving? Unfortunately the answer to that has not been clear but it has been reported that she had initially signed on for a one-year contract and then decided to not re-up for the second season.
A release date for "Orange is the New Black" season two has not been announced yet but the show's first season debuted July 2013 so it's safe to assume that the second season will be back spring/summer of 2014.
By the end of the first season Laura Prepon (Alex) and Taylor Schilling's (Piper) characters were broken up so now would be the perfect opportunity for Prepon to make her exit from the hit-show. Although many fans have argued that Prepon should stay to further play out Piper and Alex's relationship and give Alex a proper exit.
Do you think Prepon should stay on "Orange is the New Black" or is now the perfect time to leave the show?
