While fans are saddened that we may be losing Sean MaGuire's Robin Hood on future seasons of "Once Upon a Time," co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis has revealed that the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) won't be the only alum to make an appearance in the coming sixth season.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, when asked if fans have seen the last of Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and her daughter Lily (Agnes Bruckner), Horowitz teased: "Next season. Oh yeah, we’ll have plans. You’ll see, hopefully they’ll be great."
Kitsis joined in saying, "I’ll say this, we hear the fans. We know what stories you feel like we’ve dropped, and we’ve got an episode for you next year," before Horowitz concluded: "We’ve got some plans to try to address many of those things next season."
If you recall, Lily was introduced in the fourth season as an old acquaintance of Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) but also the daughter of one of the most powerful and fearful sorceress Maleficent. We were only granted a small on-screen cameo from Lily before her story wrapped up but her appearance left fans wanting much more.
Meanwhile, it looks as if the show is planning to introduce new non-Disney characters to the show in the sixth season.
As seen in the fifth season finale, our heroes were introduced to many classic literary characters in the Land of Untold Stories such as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as well as The Three Musketeers. Many sites are theorizing that the series is dangerously close to using up all the Disney characters and needs to look elsewhere to find new allies and villains.
According to EW, there were a number of clues as to which literary characters will be coming to the sixth season. In the finale, we seen Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) reading illustrations featuring "Don Quixote," "Gulliver's Travels," "The Water Babies" and much more.
"Once Upon a Time" has already been renewed for a sixth season and should return to ABC this fall in September.
