The White House has resurfaced recent clips of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer arguing against government shutdowns as the two parties engage in yet new last-minute negotiations to avert such an outcome, although this time with Democrats in the opposition and Republicans in the White House.

"Flashback to Chuch Schumer last September," reads a post by Rapid Response 47, a White House-ran X account. The clip in question shows the then-majority leader saying that if a "government shutdown means seniors who rely on Social Security could be thrown into chaos."

"Our veterans could see regional va offices shut down and support services put on hold" and "some of our military, service members could be forced to work without pay," Schumer adds during a passage of a speech in the Senate. "So what changed, Chuck?" the publication ends.

The accusation comes as Senate Democrats have anticipated they are not willing to support the six-month government funding passed by the GOP-controlled House earlier this week unless they get a vote on the 30-day bill.

"Republicans chose a partisan path, drafting their continuing resolution without any input, any input from congressional Democrats. Because of that, Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture on the House CR [continuing resolution]," said Schumer when discussing the matter.

"Our caucus is unified on a clean April 11 CR that will keep the government open and give Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation that can pass. We should vote on that. I hope, I hope our Republican colleagues will join us to avoid a shutdown on Friday," Schumer added.

However, The Hill reported that Senate Democrats are privately saying they will not allow a shutdown on Saturday, with Schumer giving centrists room to vote along with Republicans if it's the only way to prevent that outcome.
