The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns have been rivals for decades. Meeting for the first time on October 10, 1900, the Sooners and Horns have developed one of the best and longest-running rivalries in all of sports. Set to meet for the 108th time in what is affectionately referred to as the 'Red River Rivalry,' these legendary programs hope to write another great chapter in what is already a fantastic story. Oklahoma won last season's match-up 63-21 but with Texas experiencing struggles at time's this season, the Longhorns know they can erase some of the recent hardships endured throughout this season and in previous showdowns with a victory this weekend over the Sooners.

"I think it is an opportunity for us," Texas defensive coordinator Greg Robinson said recently regarding the big game. "You know what? It's Oklahoma week. I would have to think that every year this is the game that you want to play. This is what it's all about, and the pressure of wanting to win and beat them is exciting. It's how much can you get out of your guys come Saturday to do the right things and play well. That's the challege and I think we're all excited about accepting that."

With both teams coming off wins heading into this weekend's showdown - Texas (3-2) earned a 31-30 victory over Iowa State while No. 12 OU (5-0) took down TCU 20-17 - Sooners coach Bob Stoops knows both teams will be ready to go coming off close victories. The 15-year OU head coach would also like to see his running game take control of the upcoming contest, especially from quarterback Blake Bell.

"We still have to find different ways to get him running the football and rying to break him loose from time to time," Stoops said.

The 6'6" junior quarterback has thrown for over 830 yards and 6 touchdowns this season but has only accumulated 175 yards on 40 carries with zero scores. If Bell is able to put together a complete pass/run game in the Red River Rivalry, it could be another long day for the Texas Longhorns, a team desperate to avoid a 3-3 start to the season.
