A drunk Ohio father attempting to teach his 9-year-old how to drive ended up in the hospital after being hit by the child driving the vehicle.

36-year-old Clejuan Williams decided to teach his son how to drive on Sunday. Williams was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the lesson, according to court records viewed by WTVG.

Williams instructed his young son to press down on a pedal during the lesson. The child mistakenly pressed on the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing the car to move backwards and hit a pole across the street.

Williams, who had been standing inside of the door jam on the driver's side, was knocked over and dragged under the car as it began to move. Another child had been present in the backseat of the car during the incident.

He was taken to the hospital by Toledo Fire and Rescue crews, reported WTVG. His condition is currently unknown.

Neither of the children were injured.

"It is heartbreaking to see because, as a parent, when you see that happening, you think about how it can be prevented," said Toledo Police Officer Prince Flores.

Williams, who is facing charges of wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle and endangering children, is being blamed by law enforcement for endangering both his son and himself.

"As a parent, your job is to make sure that your kids are safe and to make sound decisions, and you want to make sure that you're putting them in the best possible position to be OK," Flores said. "You don't want to put them in a position that they are not ready for or mature enough to realize."
