Phone numbers linked to National Security Adviser Mike Waltz's Signal account, along with personal data from other top Trump officials, have reportedly been found online, a German news outlet revealed.
The security breach was discovered by DER SPIEGEL, who used commercial data search engines and leaked hacker databases to uncover phone numbers, emails and even passwords of several high-ranking U.S. officials.
The findings come amid reports that these officials used Signal to discuss a military strike in Yemen, possibly exposing sensitive intelligence.
Among those affected are Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, whose phone number connected to her Signal account was also allegedly found online, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
The leaked data, which reportedly remains publicly accessible, could allow hostile intelligence services or cybercriminals to exploit the information for hacking, surveillance or political blackmail. While President Donald Trump and the White House insist that no classified information was shared, concerns have been raised over the security of government communications.
Some officials, like Gabbard, reportedly took measures to limit their exposure, but reporters still found evidence of recent activity linked to the leaked information.
In response to the revelations, DER SPIEGEL has alerted the affected officials, while cybersecurity experts warn of the risks posed by exposed personal data. The U.S. government has yet to announce any formal investigation into the breach.
