It was a night to remember. We have a new Latina beauty queen. The show was spectacular, with top performances and a last challenge to remember. It all began with a grand opening featuring the past seven "Nuestra Belleza Latina." After the former queens walked down the runway, the four finalists of the night, Nabila Tapia, Aleyda Ortiz, Aly Villegas and Josephine Ochoa came out, but they were all topped by Osmel Sousa, who came down from the ceiling on top of the letters "NBL" with the coveted crown in his hands.
Soon after, we went on a trip down memory lane, reminiscing the best of all the past challenges. For the last challenge the girls had to face Don Francisco. Aly was the first one. She proved her comedic skills and the judges seemed to like it. Even Osmel told her to use her talents to make a difference, because she was unique.
Nabila pretended to be a doll for her turn at the challenge and surprised the judges. She even poked fun to the fact that she’s been very outspoken throughout the competition. Osmel said she was the most beautiful girl out of all the finalists, which shocked everyone in the room and all the viewers. Aleyda’s challenge consisted of being interviewed by Don Francisco and later interview people from the audience and improvise. She nailed it and really looked like she was a part of Sábado Gigante’s team.
Josephine had to promote a product and she was kept being interrupted by Don Francisco as part of her challenge. The judges praised her poise and calmness and also the fact that she took directions without complaining. Luis Fonsi then performed his hit "Corazón en la Maleta" to which the girls walked one last time in their formal gowns. That runway was followed by a "Maleficent" themed runway, which the girls nailed with a lot of seductiveness.
The first big announcement was then made. Aly Villegas was the winner of the CEA scholarship. She will begin classes next January in the prestigious Televisa academy to perfect her acting skills and enjoy countless opportunities to appear in telenovelas. Although that was a happy moment, it was soon announced that Aly was the third finalist, ending her chances of winning the crown.
Yuri took the stage to perform "Mi Soledad" and put on an eye-catching show. The second finalist was then announced. Unfortunately, it was Nabila Tapia, ending the chances for Dominican Republic to win the crown yet again. Pepe Aguilar stopped by, and impressed the viewers with his powerful voice. Marisela Demontecristo walked down the runway one last time as Nuestra Belleza Latina to crown the new queen. She opened up about all the dreams that and accomplishments of her year as the queen.
And finally, the moment we've all been waiting for. The winner of Nuestra Belleza Latina 2014 is... Aleyda Ortiz from Puerto Rico! Which makes Josephine Ochoa the first finalist.
We spoke to Aleyda Ortiz after her big win. Click here to find out what she had to say about winning the crown, who her biggest competition was, and why her weight was still a major struggle for her on the show.
