Protesters in Washington D.C. are stepping up pressure on President Barack Obama to halt deportations. A number of pro immigration reform protesters gathered outside the White House on Wednesday calling for the mass of deportations to stop: "Not one more!" they chanted. "Stop deportations!" "Two Million Too Many!" President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president, and with no significant reform in sight, activists are fed up.

"Hey Obama! Don't deport my mom!" read one sign. However, the stories behind the signs and chants are far from amusing. Sisters Milka and Mijani González, 13 and 15 years old respectively, reside in Detroit Michigan, told Vanguardia how their father was deported at Christmas. Sandra Lopez, an undocumented Mexican immigrant living on Colorado says she has spent "11 years paying taxes." "We are in a free country where the Statue of Liberty is praised, and it's all lies, it's all an illusion. My dreams are ruined," she said.

"Congressmen, Mr. Obama, you have promised immigration reform but you haven't achieved it. Mr. Obama, you have that power, we know you have the power to stop deportations, please, I want you to please take immediate action." Next week, the amount of deportations is expected to reach two million (that's 1,200 deportations per day): immigration activists have stepped up pressure on Congress and the President to take decisive action on immediate immigration reform.
