A North Carolina man was "within two minutes of death" after his flight from Charlotte to Washington, D.C. was scheduled to land behind the doomed American Airlines plane that collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday night.
James Moyler took to his personal TikTok account to share his experience in flying behind the doomed PSA Airlines plane. He stated his flight was delayed in Charlotte due to high winds at their destination.
"My flight was scheduled to touch down at 8:55 and that incident occurred at 8:53. We were following them into runway 33 at DCA National (Ronald) Reagan, so I'm feeling like I was within two minutes," he stated. "I feel dramatic saying that, but I'm pretty shook."
Moyler said his flight was then diverted to Dulles International Airport, which is about a 15-minute trip from Ronald Reagan International Airport. He didn't think anything of the diversion, attributing them to the high winds, until the captain made an announcement and his fellow passengers started turning on their cellphones.
The relieved passenger also shared that his seatmate's daughter was servicing the tragic flight from Wichita, Kansas to Washington, D.C.
"I'm just grateful that I'm OK and I hope that they're able to find a lot of survivors in the Potomac," Moyler continued.
"I'm very confused on how a very clear night even with the winds that a Black Hawk chopper can run into a commercial flight landing at DCA. It's mindboggling to me. Prayers to everyone who was on that plane and prayers for their families," he added.
Unfortunately, there were no survivors on neither the American Airlines flight, which had 64 passengers, including four crew members, nor the three-person crew on the Army helicopter.
