No Steve Carrell: 'The Office' Boss Will Not Return For Reunion Finale

The belovedly obtuse boss Michael Scott of the U.S. version of "The Office," a role played by Steve Carrell, is disappointing fans by not making an appearance in the show's reunion finale.

The hour-long finale, which will air on May 16, features all the characters -- except one -- reuniting once again after they've become famous reality stars, a plot line that originally belonged to the UK version of the show.

"Steve...didn't want to overshadow the ending that the other characters deserved after all these years..." Greg Daniels, who adapted the mockumentary show for a U.S. audience told Newsday.

Daniels was also careful to not give away any spoilers, but it is known that returning cast members will include Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Rachael Harris, Dakota Johnson, Joan Cusack and Ed Begley Jr.
