NHL team owner, Daryl Katz, is reportedly being accused of paying a teenager ballet dancer $75,000 in exchange for sexual favors per a civil lawsuit obtained by CBC News.
The Canadian billionaire was allegedly in a sexual relationship with a ballerina named Sage Humphries when the latter was still under the age of seventeen.
The new claim was also reportedly a counter to the lawsuit that was filed against a dance teacher, identified as Mitchell Taylor Button, and his wife, Dusty Button, by Humpries and other ballet dancers who accused them of sexual abuse.
The owner of the Edmonton Oilers ended up getting embroiled in the row after Humphries reportedly accused the two of a consensual “throuple sexual relationship” with Humphries when she was 18. Katz, as well as two other men, also allegedly had sexual relationships with the ballerina when she was still underage.
“Humphries was literally a child prostitute to a billionaire,” the claim alleges, “and her mother assisted her in laundering the money she was paid and in trafficking her to Katz.”
Further, one exhibit showed the text message exchange between Katz and Humphries when both were just 53 and 17 years old respectively. It was not mentioned in court how the text messages were obtained or where they originated.
“If my guys send u funds will u spend it on/keep it for yourself?” Katz allegedly wrote in the obtained text message. “And just between us? Even though u r wise beyond your years given our respective ages it would be taken the wrong way.”
When asked to comment, the attorney of the NHL club owner, Robert Klieger, denied the allegations and branded them as baseless and scurrilous.
Klieger said he could not verify the authenticity of the texts in the court filing, the report added. However, Katz did arrange for $75,000 to be sent to Humphries as part of a business deal.
