Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson was reportedly interested in Frisco last week for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
The 28-year-old NFL player, who recently signed with the Carolina Panthers, also reportedly threatened to kill the woman, identified as Ryan Sokolosky, with a tire wrench and destroyed her laptop when they broke up.
Wilson is now facing a charge of assault with bodily harm to a family member according to Frisco Police Sgt. Stephen Byrom in an email as reported by the Dallas Morning News.
Byrom added that he did not know the details of the arrest of Wilson, including the jail and whether the Super Bowl champion was able to post bond.
Wilson's attorney, Toby Shook, denied the allegations and mentioned that they are looking forward to looking at all the facts for the NFL player’s name to be cleared.
“Damien Wilson did not commit any type of assault,” Shook said. “We look forward to all the facts coming out so his name can be cleared.”
The Panthers are reportedly aware of the allegations that Wilson is facing. However, they had no comment on the matter as of this writing. The linebacker remained on the roster as of Monday, Apr. 18.
Wilson and Sokolosky started dating in March 2020 but eventually broke up. They reconciled in February with the Mississippi native more doting and affectionate.
But Sokolosky caught Wilson cheating on her on Friday, Apr. 15, with another woman. It was here where Sokolosky told Wilson that their relationship was over, going to his house to grab her stuff.
According to Sokolsky, Wilson emerged from the bushes with a tire wrench and allegedly threatened to kill her.
“I was screaming like I’m being skinned alive,” Sokolosky said. The cat wasn’t inside the blanket, but her laptop was.”
Sokolosky added that she obtained a protective order against Wilson. She said she wanted to speak out because she believes he shouldn’t be in the NFL.
“He thinks all of it’s a joke because he’s rich and thinks he’s going to get out of everything,” she said.
