When you go out to purchase a tablet, durability and sturdiness is often times a major factor in the final decision.
According to reports, Google's Nexus 7 tablet has been popular among consumers with about 1 million units being sold each month. The question now, however, is how durable is the tablet?
SquareTrade dropped the Nexus 7 three different times to test the durability.
In the first test, the tablet was dropped on its corner and its screen was cracked on the edge.
"The Nexus 7 took a beating on the edge and cracked on the edge," the tester said.
The tablet was dropped on its face for the second drop. It "didn't too bad," but was cracked on the top and middle.
The Nexus 7's durability was also tested under water. The tester put the device in water for 10 seconds and when the device came out, it reset itself and was unresponsive.
In tests done by Android Authority, the Nexus 7 was dropped three times from 4.5 feet on its side, back and face.
When dropped from its side, the Nexus 7 suffered "significant damage."
"Not good guys, not good," the tester said. "So we have some really significant damage to the Nexus 7. It actually did shatter. We have the display cracked in minor regions and we already see some plastics coming off and a really significant dent to the side."
On the back drop, the tablet had "some really bad fracturing." Its plastic completely chipped off on the side of the display and the back was popped out. The tablet's display came on, but the touch screen feature malfunctioned.
In the final drop on its face, the display was completely fractured and sustained significant damage.
"Guys, don't drop you Nexus 7 three times like I did," the tester said.
