The globalization of Ford vehicles will soon be complete. Earlier this year, Ford has already unveiled the Ford Fusion/Mondeo global sedan, the Ford Escape/Kuga global crossover, and even released the Ford Focus ST hot-hatch in the United States, once a forbidden fruit unavailable in the American car market. This morning, Ford has announced that it will officially export the iconic Ford Mustang to Europe.
Confirmed via social media channels including YouTube and Twitter, Ford's decision to bring its pony car across the pond reaffirms its commitment to the European market despite the recent economic challenges the continent has had to face.
At the moment, Ford Mustangs can only be purchased in Europe through private importers at great expense. Though confirmed, Ford has not announced the specific date of market debut. However, we expect the release to coincide with the debut of the next-generation 2014 model, which also marks the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.
The Mustang's entry into Europe is a part of the American automaker's "One Ford Plan" to achieve the globalization of its complete line-up. What's more, Ford's new design language is global too, as the next Mustang to rumored to share Ford's trapezoidal grille and other design traits as well.
Finally, the new Mustang is also expected to be lighter and carry a smaller footprint, carry a new range of engines, and offer a fully independent rear suspension for the very first time in its long history.
