On last night's "The Newsroom" viewers got a glimpse into "the Genoa Tip." This tip about a US black-op that used nerve gas on civilians to kill a terrorist will turn out to be the biggest blunder the "New Night" team has ever seen. What we learned in episode one last week, was that the "Genoa Tip" is false and Will ends up having to retract and apologize for the broadcast.

In this week's episode we see how the tip about the story starts to form and Mac starts to think there may be something to it. Jim's replacement Jerry Dantana is the one who first pitched this tip to Mac and then puts her on the phone with a soldier who says he was part of the Operation.

Meanwhile Maggie's world is slowly coming apart. First she and Don split up after Don sees the YouTube video of Maggie shouting she was in to Jim at a "Sex and the City" tour bus. After she and Sloan track down the girl who posted the video in an attempt to get her to take it down, the girl decides to keep it up and Maggie's roommate Lisa sees it. In case you forgot Lisa is Jim's girlfriend and repeatedly asked Maggie if she was okay with her dating Jim in season one.

When Maggie gets home one night Lisa tells her she saw the video and that their friendship is over. Lisa wants nothing to do with Maggie and says from now on she is Maggie's landlord and nothing else. Then she emails the video link to Jim in order to break up with him. Lisa knew Jim was on the bus and Maggie told her they kissed.

Don is having some issues of his own trying to help an inmate in Georgia avoid the death penalty. Troy Davis was convicted of killing a cop and sentenced to death. Don has been following the case and Davis' appeals and believes an innocent man is about to be murdered. Apparently witnesses came forward to say they made a mistake in fingering Davis but it didn't matter. Troy Davis was executed and Don was devastated.

Jim is still up in New Hampshire trying to get 30-minutes with Mitt Romney but he is still not very popular with the Republican circuit after Will's comparison of the Taliban and the Tea Party. Jim is going through a bit of hazing and has been taking a few lumps from his press competitors on the Romney bus.

Maggie is desperate for a news story. She feels that unless she becomes the "go-to" person for something around the office "News Night" won't have a place for her much longer. She begs Mac to approve a trip to Africa for her and another staffer. Mac is reluctant but allows them to go.

As we saw from episode one, something is going to happen to Maggie in Africa that will change her life and personality drastically, but we don't know what that is yet.

This season is off to a slow start. Season one started out with a bang, it was fast, witty and exciting. This season needs to get it going, it is slow and sort of annoying with all of the whining the characters have been doing.

But here's to holding out hope all of the flare and panache of season one will start to make its way back into season two.
