The bodies of a newly-wed lesbian couple were found with gunshot wounds in the Utah wilderness four days after they told their friends that a "weirdo" was roaming around near their campsite.
Married couple Kylen Schulte, 24, and Crystal Beck, 38, were camping in the mountains of Moab, Utah, about a week ago when they reportedly disappeared, according to the Daily Mail.
They had moved from one campsite to another with ease and spent a lot of time camping since they tied the knot. However, they would inform close friends on Aug. 14 that they moved campsites because they were being "spooked" by a "weirdo" man camping near them.
Three days later, Schulte's father, Sean-Paul, pleaded for the Moab community in a Facebook post to help find the women on Aug. 17 after not hearing from them since the cryptic message left to friends.
He noted that the pair were not able to report to their jobs and that no records were found to say they have been in Moab's hospital or prison.
Authorities located their corpses the next day, Wednesday night, near the South Mesa area of La Sal Loop Road and moved to confirm the bodies belonged to Schulte and Beck the next day.
The state medical examiner's office is currently trying to identify the victims' exact cause of death.
The Schulte patriarch has since utilized social media to call on Moab authorities and the community to help with the investigations, urging locals to be on the lookout for the women's alleged murderer, the Daily Beast noted.
In an updated post, he begs Moab police to interview everyone who was on the mountain to help in their probe.
Detectives have since talked to a person of interest and released them, according to Sean-Paul. Meanwhile, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office did not confirm whether it had a suspect or motive in the double homicide but notes there's currently "no danger to the public.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Schulte's family, seeking funding to help defray Kylen's funeral cost. Schulte would have turned 25 on Sept. 4.
“Kylen’s heart has always been full of love and life and God. She was the best sister, daughter, niece, and cousin," Kylen’s aunt, Bridget Calvert, wrote. "She was a true free spirit that lived for the joy in her heart, not the hatred in the world.”
A candlelight vigil was held on Sunday outside the Moonflower Community Cooperative to pay tribute to the couple, according to ABC4.
