New York Rangers fans are hoping the Broadway Blue Shirts have gotten their act together and will avoid a fourth straight defeat tonight when they take on the Washington Capitals. This will be the first time the Rangers and the Caps meet up since New York took a 5-0 victory over Washington, removing them from the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Rangers will meet the Capitals at the Verizon Center in D.C. This is second time in three seasons that the Rangers have had to take a long road trip due to ongoing renovations at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Rangers have lost three consecutive games by a combined 20-5 margin. The Rangers recently fired their coach John Tortorella and hired Alain Vigneault. No doubt the new coach is feeling the pressure and a three game losing streak is likely not the way he pictured the start of the season going. Both teams began the season on shaky ground, of the last 13 head to head games Washington has only won five. Capitals coach Adam Oates gave his team an inspirational pep talk during last Sunday's practice.

Rather than focusing on the negative, Oates built his team up inspiring a 4-2 win over Edmonton. The Caps scored their four goals during the first four minutes of the second period in their match up with the Oilers. Speaking with sportingnews.com Oates said, "We're not as confident as we should be, but a lot of good guys got goals. We feel better about ourselves and hopefully, that cures some of it." Their ability to bounce back against Edmonton gives the Caps a slight advantage over the Rangers.

New York recently placed their backup goalie Martin Biron on waivers Monday after registering a 7.61 goals against average in two games. Biron has been replaced by Hartford's Cam Talbot who was 2-0-1 and holds a 2.54 GAA for the Wolfpack. Talbot is not expected to start tonight's game against the Capitals. Rangers' veteran Henrik Lundqvist will take his place between the pipes tonight. Lundqvist is hoping to earn his third straight shutout against the Capitals tonight. Lundqvist last faced the Caps in game 6 and 7 of the first round of the Stanley Cup finals, keeping the Caps from scoring and advancing in the playoffs.
