The New York Knicks head to Charlotte on Friday night to take on their Eastern Conference rival Bobcats in their fifth game of the NBA season. They'll try to even things up after a home loss against the Bobcats just a few days ago - one made more bitter by the loss of center Tyson Chandler, who left midway through the first quarter will likely miss the next 4-6 weeks with a fractured leg. The 1-3 Knicks will try to right their ship after getting off to their worst start since 2009-2010, when they went 1-9 to start the year. The 2-2 Bobcats, on the other hand, are off to their best start since that same season, when they kicked things off by winning three of their first five. Bobcats shooting guard Gerard Henderson told ESPN after Tuesday night's win, "We're happy with [the record]. It's not fun to come out here and lose every night. We put a lot of work into it just like every other team. So 2-2 is cool now." A number of Charlotte players pitched in stellar performances against the Knicks that night, with Kemba Walker putting in 25 points, six assists and five rebounds and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist slashing his way to 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

The Knicks' offense was a different story - most of it was on the shoulders of Carmelo Anthony, who put up 32 points but not particularly efficiently, as he went only 10 for 28 from the field. He also hit two straight baskets late in the game which on two separate occasions brought the Knicks within two points of the Bobcats, but they couldn't pull through to take the lead. "We dig ourselves these big holes and then we want to fight back and by that time it was a little bit too late," Anthony said afterward. "Tonight was one of those nights."

He also said that he had faith in his team despite their half-battered status - Raymond Felton played part of the second quarter with a tissue in one of his nostrils after he bloodied his nose - telling reporters after the game, "I believe we'll get out of this. We got to remain positive. It's easy to go into a dark place right now. It's easy to listen to all the negativity that's going to be coming our way. But we got to stay together."
