The New York Knicks did what they had to do during the first two games of their opening round NBA Playoff series with the Boston Celtics.

Defending home court in dominant fashion, Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks will head to Boston with a 2-0 series lead.

Game 3 Date and Broadcast Info

Game 3 from the TD Garden in Boston will begin Friday at 8:00pm, EDT with coverage available on the ESPN network.

The game can also be seen on local networks MSG-TV in the New York area and CSN-NE across parts of New England.

Preview

Boston is hoping a return home will help them get back in the series after falling into a quick 0-2 hole. Friday night's game will be the first time the Celtics will play in their building since the terrible bombings at the recent Boston Marathon.

With the crowd on hand expected to be passionate as always, the Celtics know feeding off the energy of the fans will be huge.

"There's no better crowd in the NBA than ours," Celtics head coach Doc Rivers told Jimmy Golen of NBA.com. "There's no better crowd in sports than this city. They are actually really invested."

Paul Pierce leads the Celtics into Game 3 averaging over 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists through the first two postseason games against New York while forward Jeff Green has provided an average of 18 points in the playoffs.

The Celtics had the halftime lead during Game 2 at Madison Square Garden but were unable to hold the Knicks offense under control during the second half, eventually falling 87-71.

With his squad up 2-0 and looking to put the Celtics in a tough hole, NBA Sixth Man of the Year J.R. Smith and the Knicks know that dealing with the Boston crowd could be as tough as dealing with the talent of the Celtics players.

"It's going to be hostile for us," Smith said to NBA.com. "Boston's always, if you're the home team, it's a great place to play. If you're the away team, it's a nightmare."

In two games this postseason, Smith has been brilliant, averaging 17 points while complimenting Carmelo Anthony beautifully.

As expected following his regular-season scoring title, the 28-yer-old former Syracuse star Anthony leads all postseason scoring, averaging 35 points per game in the postseason.

Be sure to catch the No. 2 New York Knicks battle the No. 7 Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Playoffs Friday at 8 p.m., EDT, on ESPN television as well as local networks.
