Alvin Kamara, the New Orleans Saints' star running back, was caught on video throwing multiple punches at a man in a fight at a Las Vegas hotel earlier this year. The victim, Darnell Greene, is now suing him for $10 million.
A video posted by TMZ shows Greene knocked to the ground while the others with Kamara can be seen kicking and stomping him. Greene alleged he was punched unconscious after trying to get on an elevator and being stopped from doing so by the running back and his friends at The Cromwell Hotel and Casino on Feb. 5. Kamara, on the other hand, stated that Greene became violent first.
The footage matches pictures that Greene's attorneys indexed in the lawsuit against Kamara last month. According to the suit, as a result of the beating, the complainant sustained injuries to his neck, back, head, shoulder, knees, and face. He also sustained a disfiguring facial fracture to his right orbital bone.
Kamara faces a felony charge of battery resulting in significant bodily harm and a misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit battery. The next hearing in the case is set for Wednesday. Kamara was in town to play in the 2022 Pro Bowl, the New York Post reported.
Alvin Mentian Kamara was born on July 25, 1995. He is an American football running back for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Tennessee after moving from Hutchinson Community College. Kamara was drafted by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was named NFL Rookie of the Year in 2017.
The running back has been a Pro Bowler in all five of his NFL seasons and is a two-time second-team All-Pro. Then, in 2020, Kamara became the second player in NFL history to achieve six rushing touchdowns in a single game, tying Ernie Nevers.
Under the Personal Conduct Policy, the footballer remains subject to a six-game baseline suspension. NBC Sports reported that Kamara has not been placed on paid leave by the NFL and the league will take no action until the criminal case has been resolved. The Saints host the Ravens on Monday night.
