A New Mexico man is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening and assaulting several U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employees.

According to investigators, 28-year-old Andrew Josiah Segura had multiple confrontations with CBP employees in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. On February 11, 2025, Segura reportedly approached a U.S. Border Patrol agent at a local Love's Travel Stop, calling the agent a "traitor" and threatening physical harm.

A week later, on February 19, Segura confronted two CBP employees, Adam Chavez and Marco Pena, at a post office. Witnesses say Segura verbally threatened Chavez, again using the term "traitor" and telling him, "You better watch your back." Chavez asked Segura to leave, fearing a potential assault.

Shortly after this exchange, Segura allegedly confronted Pena, pushing him and getting into a physical altercation that left Pena with bruises on his arm. Witnesses at the post office told investigators they believed Segura specifically targeted CBP employees, as he did not bother anyone else present. They also worried he might have had a weapon based on his suspicious behavior after the incident.

Segura is currently in custody awaiting trial. If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison for assaulting and threatening federal employees.
