At the end of Season 2, the whole gang was having some interesting experiences. Nick and Jess had decided to go ahead and try to make their quirky romance, a more serious relationship. Schmidt on the other had was running from his relationships with both Elizabeth and Cece, and in a relationship all of his own, Winston had lost a serious battle with a badger. As for Season 3 of "New Girl," things are certainly going to be new, but the Fox's ensemble comedy show is straying too far from it's hilarious roots.
Creator Elizabeth Meriwether somehow wriggled from the classic downfall of a comedy show that comes after the show pairs up the main female and male character. By slowly pairing Zooey Deschanel's character of Jess and her perpetually grumpy roommate, Nick, played by Jake Johnson, the show left the audience of "New Girl" always wanting more. With Season 3's premiere episode being titled "All In," we are assuming the pair will be going all in with their relationship. Luckily for "New Girl", it seems like the new coupling of Jess and Nick will make new opportunities for each of their characters and the plot overall. Deschanel told CraveOnline, "Once you put them together, you can pull them apart, you can twist them around, throw 'em up in the air, do so many different things."
