As the popular Netflix television show "The Crown" enters its sixth and final season, a casting call on Thursday, April 7, revealed that the production is looking to cast someone as Kate Middleton, as the series may depict the early courtship between her and Prince William.
The award-winning Netflix show, which was created for the screen by Peter Morgan, will be looking to depict Kate Middleton and Prince William’s early courtship and relationship with each other during their early days at St. Andrews, according to Tatler.
Kate Middleton’s life and courtship have not been depicted as much in television and film, the exception being the made-for-television film "William & Catherine: A Royal Romance," where the Duchess of Cambridge was played by Lady Alice St Clair-Erksine.
A similar casting call also reportedly seeks to cast both Prince William and Prince Harry in their ages at the time, as they will reportedly be playing a significant role in the sixth season of the acclaimed television series, Glamour reported.
“Robert Sterne, Casting Director of the Netflix series 'The Crown,' is searching for two exceptional young actors to play Prince William and Prince Harry in the next series. These are significant roles in this award-winning drama and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance,” the casting call read.
The fifth season of "The Crown" will be released later in the year, and will feature Imelda Staunton as the Queen, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. Among the events that will be covered in the upcoming season will be Princess Diana’s tragic death.
The show has been critically and commercially acclaimed, with its fourth season winning the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series as well as acting awards for cast members Gillian Anderson, Olivia Colman, Josh O'Connor and Tobias Menzies, according to the BBC.
