
Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa, has reportedly taken a turn for the worse. Reports are saying the anti-apartheid leader has been placed on life support three days after slipping into a coma. The 94-year-old is credited with bringing democracy to and ending racial segregation in South Africa.

The Telegraph is reporting that Nelson Mandela's family has not made any statements regarding the report he has been placed on life support. CNN reporter Hala Gorani sent out a tweet saying an official "briefed" CNN as to his condition.

The Telegraph is also reporting that Elders from Madiba, the clan to which Mandela belongs, went to visit him in Pretoria. Other members of Madiba gathered around Mandela's home in Eastern Cape with messages of support and hope.
The Times of India is reporting that five unnamed sources close to Mandela have reported that his health has deteriorated to the point he can no long breath on his own. There have been many false reports saying the former President has died, but that is not the case. Mandela is still alive and his family is still hoping he will recover.
The Telegraph reports one of Mandela's grandchildren said "he can't discuss his grandfather's burial while he is still alive. His focus is on getting him better."
