A 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor who called the child to his home under the pretext of giving her a toy.
On Oct.15, the child was playing outside her home in the Indian city of Hyderabad, when the accused neighbor called her to his home and allegedly sexually violated her.
However, the incident came to light only on Thursday, Oct.21, when the child’s parents approached the police to file a complaint against the accused neighbor.
“The offense took place at the residence of the accused. When the girl raised an alarm, the accused let go of the girl. After the offense, the girl’s family went to their native place and there they came to know about the incident. On Thursday after returning to the city, they lodged a complainant,” the Times of India quoted the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Rajendranagar division) B Gangadhar as saying.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 376 (rape) of IPC and began investigating.
The child was sent for a medical examination and the unnamed suspect was picked up for questioning. It is unclear whether the suspect has confessed to the crime.
A further probe is underway and the officers are awaiting the victim’s test results, police said.
In another unrelated incident, a teen student living in the same city as the 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her boyfriend after giving her a false promise to get married.
Although a complaint was lodged at the Banjara Hills police station on Tuesday, the incident came to light on Thursday, reports said.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered under the POCSO against the suspect, a daily wage worker. This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were released at the time of this writing.
In yet another unrelated incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly drugged, raped, and tortured with a blowtorch while being held hostage for a month by a woman she met at a party.
The teen had met the accused, 24-year-old Elham Naaman, at a party in north-western Sydney where they befriended each other on social media. The duo decided to meet up again at a hotel in Parramatta on the evening of June 5.
It is alleged that the girl was held at the hotel and other addresses over the next month up until July 6.
She was allegedly drugged with methamphetamine and the “date rape drug” GBH, court documents said.
The teen was also injected with heroin and threatened with a blowtorch - which set the scarf she was wearing on fire, police allege.
Naaman was arrested and charged with kidnapping, supplying a prohibited drug, stealing, intimidation, and damaging property by fire with intent to injure.
