LeBron James is already 37-years-old but remains a top player in the NBA. Although he has pondered retirement, it appears the four-time NBA champion plans to continue playing until his son makes the jump to the pro ranks.
James said that one moment he wants to have in the league is to play alongside his son Bronny James in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers star made the comments in an interview under his Uninterrupted platform.
“I want him to get to the NBA,” James said. “I’m not even going to lie. I want to be on the same — I want to be on the court with him. I think that will be an unbelievable moment.”
Bronny James is only 17-years-old and is currently a junior at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. He’s currently the No. 38 junior in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
It will be interesting if James can still play for at least two more years and wait for that father-and-son tandem to come true.
On the floor, there is no question that James remains a force to reckon with. At present, he is averaging 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists for the Lakers. His contract with Los Angeles expires after the 2022-23 season.
If everything stays the course, Bronny James could enter the NBA Draft in 2024.
So far, two of Bronny’s teammates, B.J. Boston and Ziaire Williams, are currently NBA rookies with the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies, respectively.
While in waiting, LeBron has other things that need addressing. At the top of the list is finding a solution to the continuous struggles of the purple and gold this season.
Despite his best efforts, James has been patiently trying to lead a talented Lakers quintet with hopes of winning another title. Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are there to provide support but somehow the mix has not exactly been smooth.
