Bogdan Bogdanovic is considered one of the best 3 and D players in the NBA today but some feel he is on the wrong team. The Sacramento Kings are oozing with young talent that the 28-year-old can work with but their performance has just not been up to par.
Making matters worse is the Kings are now in a fragile state. Vlade Divac is no longer around and it has yet to be known who will take over. Luke Walton is also on thin ice after a sorry season though a better showing is expected next NBA season. But with a new general manager coming, Walton could be lucky if he lasts the whole 2020-21 season.
Given these circumstances, Bogdanovic is likely to take them into account. He knows he is someone other NBA teams will covet. He is a restricted free agent, meaning the Kings can still retain him if they match the offer for the Serbian. But does Bogdanovic still want to return to Sacramento?
The state of the Kings is likely to play a factor in Bogdanovic’s decision this NBA offseason. With an air of uncertainty, there is a possibility that he may opt to take his act elsewhere. Sam Amick of The Athletic feels this is the scenario for Bogdanovic and that he opt to play for another team. He shared his thoughts when he appeared on the HoopsHype podcast.
Last season, Bogdanovic saw action in 61 games. He averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists. However, it is his excellent shooting from the field is what other teams will want him for. He owns a 44% field goal shooting clip and 37.2% from beyond the arc per Basketball-Reference.
Also, Bogdan will have to wait for the Kings to settle the contract of De’Aaron Fox. Sacramento needs the 22-year-old guard to sign a rookie-scale contract extension before shifting to Bogdanovic. Given his talent, would it be worth the wait?
Like most NBA players, Bogdanovic wants to be part of something special. He could also consider staying with the Kings and align with them to achieve success. The latter holds no assurance for the Serbian as far as chances on an NBA title. From how things are going no over in Sacramento, Bogdanovic may want to consider exploring offers from other well-off teams.
