The Los Angeles Lakers are aiming for a repeat although that may depend on who is still around. LeBron James will still be there while Anthony Davis is most likely to re-sign. After them, guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green and Steve Caruso may still be back unless a trade involving any or all of them crops up.
Right now, it remains to be seen who the Lakers may consider. Top names are being mentioned such as Chris Paul of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Victor Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers. And similar to last season, Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards is once again in the air.
It will be recalled that Beal raised speculations when he purchased a posh mansion in Los Angeles. The timing could not have come at a perfect time. The Lakers were facing the Miami Heat for the 2020 NBA title and most know how the purple and gold need that third superstar moving forward.
Some see it as a possibility although unlikely to go down anytime soon. Nevertheless, the thought of adding Beal to the Lakers roster makes sense. He could be a better option to Danny Green, particularly when it comes to points.
Two diehard Lakers fans would love to see that happen. Snoop Dogg and Shannon Sharpe agree that it may be tough for Los Angeles to make it back-to-back next season if they don't have a formidable core. Snoop Dogg knew about Beal's house purchase and brought that up in the discussion on Undisputed.
Beal is coming off a great season with the Wizards, averaging 30.5 points, 6.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds. Those are big numbers for the 27-year-old player who could be a big help on both ends of the floor.
But the reality of it all is that getting Beal to play for the Lakers as early as next season is considered wishful thinking for now. He signed a two-year deal worth $72 million last year and may not be a feasible buy at this point. Also, he did mention he was looking forward to teaming up with John Wall again next season, meaning his heart is still with the Wizards. The story could be different after two years.
