A discussion between Naya Rivera and her husband, Ryan Dorsey, during Thanksgiving weekend became heated when the actress allegedly attacked her partner by injuring him on the lip and head. According to the authorities, Dorsey did not require medical assistance.
TMZ reports that the "Glee" star was arrested Saturday night in Chesapeake, West Virginia, after Dorsey called the local police to report the altercation. According to the version of the assaulted, both were on a walk with their 2-year-old when the aggression happened.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, Ryan gave the police a video of the attack while Naya was being taken into custody. On Sunday morning, Rivera appeared before a judge at the Kanawha County Magistrate Court and was released on $1,000 bond.
The Puerto Rican-descent actress surprised the world when she married Dorsey three months after she split up with rapper Big Sean in 2014. According to the Huffington Post, the rapper tweeted a GIF of a gleeful little girl saying “I told ya,” that seems to be related to Rivera’s bust.
Naya and Ryan's wedding was much of a surprise to many of their friends and family who had no idea about their budding relationship. “Naya didn’t tell most of her friends that she was marrying Ryan Dorsey, let alone that she was dating him!” a source told Us at the time of their discreet nuptials. “The whole thing is a complete surprise.”
Many of her close friends believed that since Rivera was deeply hurt by her past relationship with Big Sean, she may have rushed the marriage. The actress has been very open about finding out that not only was she no longer getting married to the rapper, but that he also cheated on her with his now ex-girlfriend, singer Ariana Grande.
"I learned that I was no longer getting married from the internet, and at the same time as the rest of the world," Rivera shared in her memoir, recalling how Big Sean’s publicist issued a statement that they had split at the time. "Not only were we no longer getting married, but apparently we weren’t even together anymore."
After two years of marriage, the 30-year-old actress and singer, known for playing Santana Lopez on Fox's musical comedy-drama television series "Glee," filed for divorce and asked for primary physical custody of son Josey Dorsey.
