It is National Hamburger Day and we are celebrating the best way possible!
As tradition holds, this national day is observed each year on May 28. Considered a burger lover's favorite time of year, this day is dedicated to those juicy burgers that come in all sizes and flavors.
The origins of the burger are unknown, but it is believed that the first hamburger sandwich was invented in the 19th century or early 20th century. The world's largest hamburger, according to National Day Calendar, was "prepared on September 2, 2012, in Carlton, Minnesota by Black Bear Casino Resort and weighed in at 2,014 pounds."
Who does not love a good ole' fashioned burger with ground beef, sautéed onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and American cheese? We do! However, if we are going to go big on National Hamburger Day, we are going to do it with five of the best Latin burgers we have ever tasted! Check them out below and sound off in the comments in you have a favorite!
1) COLOMBIAN BURGER
We don't know about you, but we are suckers for Colombian burgers! They are very similar to the regular burger, with the exception that they add coleslaw, crumbled chips, salsa Rosada, mozzarella cheese and pineapple sauce. Trust us, this burger is all the rage!
2) FRITA CUBANA
The Frita Cubana is how Cubans call their very own delicious burgers. This burger is a mix of ground beef, potato sticks, diced onions, and ketchup between two Cuban rolls. According to BurgerBeast.com, the Cuban burger is "mostly found in South Florida but its origins are from 1930s Cuba where it was street food."
3) FRITANGA BURGER
Although this is not a common burger in Nicaragua, the boys at Pincho Factory in South Florida, have made the "Fritanga Burger" a favorite in town! This burger consists of the best of Nicaraguan cuisine between two buns: carne asada, queso frito, and coleslaw. Pincho Factory is also known for its Tostones Burger and Quesadilla Burger.
4) CHACARERO
The Chacarero, although it is considered a sandwich, has the potential of being a burger. That is why this delicious Chilean food is on our list! The Chacarero is made with thinly sliced churrasco-style steak, or lomito-style pork with tomatoes, green beans, and chili pepper. Some restaurants prepare it with mayonnaise and avocado.
