Show runner Dee Johnson revealed that the crash is a wakeup call for Rayna in regards to hers and Deacon, “they are star-crossed lovers and now, especially, will always be tethered because they have a child in common.”

Peggy’s pregnancy is still making Teddy feel unsure and insecure, he is stuck in struggle between Peggy and Rayna and her daughters. In the midst of all of this Maddie is still unsure of herself and her place. Johnson says, “She’s very much confused about what she’s feeling and in what way she’s going to react to that. She’s going to be a little bit all over the place.” She just discovered that Deacon is her father so she is “not going to initially seek him out” but instead turns to Juliette for help.
