A man reportedly dropped off his dead dad's body at a New York sheriff's office after his defense attorney called 911, according to police.
The body of Richard Fluegel Sr., 60, was reportedly found with multiple gunshot wounds after first responders received a call about a man wanting to drop off a body on Dec. 9, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
Officers met Richard Fluegel Jr., 30, in the sheriff's office parking lot. Inside Fluegel Jr.'s car is where officers allegedly found Fluegel Sr.'s body, the sheriff's office said.
"We have the suspect in the car with his deceased father, and in a separate car is his defense attorney, who is Brian DeCarolis," Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty said at a news conference. "So the call actually was made by the defense attorney to say, 'We're out in the parking lot with a deceased body.'"
Fluegel Jr. is accused of shooting his father twice before wrapping his body in a tarp, according to a felony complaint obtained by WHAM-TV. Flugel Sr. had been reported missing the day Sunday after he did not return home.
The son has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and tampering with evidence. He has pleaded not guilty.
Fluegel Jr. has two previous felony convictions, according to Dougherty, and is due back in court Monday.
