Hosted by Ed Sheeran and Ruby Rose, the night kicked off with the red carpet performance of Fifth Harmony and their smash hit "Worth It." Justin Bieber started off the night winning Best Male. "Wow, thank you. It's been a long couple of years, um, I just feel like this is pretty awesome to be recognised for my music," he said accepting the EMA. "I just want to say thank you to all of my fans, you guys are really incredible. I want to thank you mom and my dad, and God, and everyone who helped me get to this place. I love you, thank you."
Other musical gueststhat are confirmed include Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Jess Glynne, twenty one pilots, Martin Garrix and Afrojack. A new award will be handed out during the event called the Video Visionary Award and the recipients will be Duran Duran. “It is no coincidence that our rise was paralleled by the growth and ultimate world domination of MTV.
