Today the msnNOW team announced that the home for trending content will stop publishing Dec. 3, 2013. The news comes as a shock for the entire web because it is so unexpected. The announcement from the msnNOW team reads like a very sad break-up letter. The announcement states that the team has had fun brining the web viral news but is dedicating their time now to share the viral news throughout all MSN channels and not have one dedicated site for trending content.
"msnNOW will stop publishing on Dec. 3, 2013. Rather than having a single home for trending content, we will continue integrating that material throughout all MSN channels," states the msnNOW team. "We've learned a lot by successfully curating the most interesting stories in real time using msnNOW. We intend to build on what we've learned as we partner with some of the world's leading content brands in the future." Avid readers and fans of the site have taken to the message boards and comment sections of the announcement to show their grief.
Flurry1322 writes, "I've made soo many friends here. My heart is broken right now. How can this be happening?? We've had many laughs and even shed tears. I will miss every single person. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!" While others have taken this as an opportunity to express concerns over a conspiracy. Coreywb writes, "So is this a nice way of saying that the msnNOW staff is getting the axe??" Which could be the case but we won't know until MSN and Microsoft explain why the msnNOW site has been disbanded.
The news isn't all sad however, the team also mention that there will be a new section for the weird stories people follow from msnNOW. "We hope msnNOW fans will stay with us for this final month, and for those who love unusual news, watch for more details about a new section on MSN News dedicated to offbeat stories, coming soon," reads the msnNOW announcement. Are you sad that msnNOW will cease publication Dec. 3?
