A motorcycle robbery in Brazil was captured on helmet cam and uploaded to Live Leak this weekend. The dramatic robbery occurred at an intersection at Brazil in broad daylight. The incident ended when an undercover cop responded quickly by firing two shots at the thief. The young thief ultimately died from the bullet wounds.
The helmet cam initially captured a typical motorcycle commute down city streets. A red motorcycle carrying two men pull into the frame as the rider approaches an intersection. The second man brandishes a pistol and puts his hand over the handlebar of the rider's white motorcycle to make him stop. The terrified rider hops off the bike and keeps his distance from the armed thief.
Just as the thief mounts the stolen motorcycle and prepares to take off, an undercover police officer leaps out of a black vehicle waiting at a red light across the street. The undercover cop fires two shots at the thief and he falls off the motorcycle. The rider in the red motorcycle quickly fled the scene when it escalated.
According to G1 Globo the robber is identified as Escarante Leonardo Santos. Santos was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery to remove the bullets. However, the young robber later died from the fired shots.
“Preliminary analysis of the video suggests that police action [taken] was legitimate and correct, observing the methods. At [the 59 second mark] it is possible to see the assailant pointing his weapon at the police officer,” said Sao Paulo military police.
