First came "Smelly Cat," now "Grumpy Cat," but in Mexico, there's an even superior cat that is causing some "mayor" controversy in politics, as he's running for office in Xalapa, capital of Veracruz, Mexico.
Morris the cat is the new sensation. He's running for mayor of Xalapa and promises that if elected, he'll sleep and do nothing, just like any human mayor would do. He also says that he will cover up his messes instead of leaving them around for people to step in.
"El Candigato Morris" or "Candidate Morris" promotes his campaign on social media and his Facebook page now has over 49 thousand likes, more than several of his human opponents. His slogan, "Xalapa without rats" is becoming very catchy among locals.
His popularity has risen so much that he just launched his official web page that includes his own photo gallery, fan work, quote of the day, and even a section of Morris in the media.
Morris really wants people to vote for him. "Citizens, I'm reminding you that I have no party affiliation!!! So in the ballot you only have to write Morris! Meow!"
