A pack of monkeys rushed into action and stopped a little girl's attacker from raping her, according to police.
The 6-year-old's parents claimed that the man lured their daughter into an abandoned home Saturday in Baghpat, India, where he then took off her clothes and tried to rape her, police said on Sunday. However, a group of monkeys reportedly rushed at the man, forcing him to get off of the girl and flee.
The 6-year-old was able to make it home where she told her parents what had happened, as reported by the Times of India. Police said the girl told her parents that the monkeys had "saved her."
"My daughter was playing outside when the accused took her away. The man could be seen in nearby CCTV footage, walking on a narrow lane with my daughter. He is yet to be identified though. He also threatened my child that he would kill me," the girl's father, who was not identified, told the Times of India. "My daughter would have been dead by now if the monkeys had not intervened."
Baghpat circle officer Harish Bhadoria told the outlet that the incident is currently under investigation. The alleged attacker is currently on the run, but has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
