Monkey Black, the dominican rapper whose real name is Leonardo Michael Flores Ozuna died last night in Barcelona, Spain after receiving multiple stab wounds in a fight. Ozuna was exiting a bar in the southern city when he got into an altercation: the rapper died from the ensuing wounds. "There was a fight between him and two other people in which he was fatally wounded," revealed a spokeseperson for the Catalan police today.
Monkey black, 27, began his musical career in 2006 and became known to fans for his song "Tienen Miedo." The Dominican rapper had lived for a number of years in Barcelona where he was married, according to local press. The fight began at 9PM local time in front of an establishment on the Onze de Setembre street in the Sant Adriá de Besos neighborhood, according to local police. Investigations have begun to track down the perpetrators.
Monkey Black's Facebook page broke the news to fans. "We have lost one of the real warriors of Dominican Hip Hop, but you will stay in the hearts of all Dominican neighborhoods, families and friends. RIP Monkey Black." Fellow rappers and Hip Hop artists have also expressed grief at the news. Vakero wrote on Twitter: "I feel so bad ... I don't want to believe that you're no longer with us." La Materialista said on Twitter that "today the urban movement is in mourning over your departure, Monkey Black."
