“Money Heist” season 4 is just around the corner and discussions are already turning to whether or not Neymar will appear in another cameo and finally join the fray. It can be recalled that the Brazilian soccer superstar made an unexpected cameo in season 3 and his surprise appearance became a huge talking point among fans of the hit Netflix crime drama.
Series creators have yet to drop cast details and plot points from the upcoming season but the hype around season 4 is already here. While “Money Heist” offers up plenty of riveting moments, one thing that makes it such a hit is its celebrity cameos. Whether it’s the director or a superstar showing up in the smallest of parts, these celebrity cameos always provide viewers a moment or two to giggle about.
In season 3, scenes with Neymar were added into two episodes after the public prosecutor in Sao Paulo had shelved a rape allegation filed against him by Brazilian model Najila Trinidade Mendes de Souza. Episodes 6 and 8 of “Money Heist” season 3 featured Neymar’s character, Brazilian monk Monje Joao, speaking with protagonists Berlin and The Professor and dropping iconic lines about how he didn’t like soccer or partying.
Neymar has always been a huge fan of “La Casa de Papel,” as “Money Heist” is known in Spanish. Several days after his cameo made it to the final version of season 3, the soccer star took to Twitter to express his euphoria over his involvement in the series. “I was able to make my dream come true and be part of my favorite show!” he wrote. “Now I can share Joao with all of you!” he added.
As of this writing, producers of the series are still keeping a tight lid on the cast cameos next season, and that’s not surprising. Like most TV shows, such details are kept under wraps until the new season airs. That means fans will have to wait until season 4 to see if Neymar will have his second jaunt into acting, or where exactly he will pop up in the series.
“Money Heist” revolves around the story of the world’s biggest heist, orchestrated by a gang of robbers. The series made it to the Netflix catalogue in December 2017 and went on to become the most watched series in a foreign language in Netflix history.
“Money Heist” season 4 is set to arrive on April 3.
