Several lives were taken in the horrible shooting incident which took place in Raleigh, North Carolina. 34-year-old Mary Marshall who was a bride-to-be along with 49-year-old Susan Karnatz who had three kids were among the victims. Mary Marshal was walking her dog when she lost her life in the incident along with four other people, said reports.
In an emotional Facebook post Robert Steele, Marshall's fiancé wrote “The love of my life, Mary Marshall, was killed last night by a cowardly individual,”
“She was shot while walking our dog. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to do. My world has been completely destroyed…” he added.
The other victims have been identified as Gabriel Torres, 29, Nicole Conners, 52, and James Roger Thompson, 16.
Others wounded in the incident included Marcille Lynn Gardner, 59, who is now hospitalized in critical condition, and Casey Joseph Clark, 33, a K-9 police officer, who has been released from the hospital after being treated for minor injuries.
The suspect has been identified as 15-year-old Austin Thompson, victim James Thompson’s younger brother, by media sources. According to the police, serious injuries have been sustained by Austin under unknown circumstances, and remain in the hospital in critical condition.
Susan's husband, Thomas Karnatz, 52, wrote
“We had big plans together and we had little plans together,”
“We had plans together for big adventures and plans together for the mundane days in between" in a Facebook post mourning his wife.
“We had plans together with the boys and we had plans together as empty nesters,
We had plans together for growing old. Alway(s) together. Now those plans are laid to waste.” he added.
The incident took place around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 13, when two people were shot dead in the 6000 block of Osprey Cove Drive by a gunman, before running onto the Neuse River Greenway, where he shot dead three others.
The police cornered and arrested the 15-year-old suspect around 9:30 p.m after scouring an area of more than 2 miles which took several hours.
