A woman’s lifeless body has been found on a footpath outside a Los Angeles hospital after attending a party during a night out with friends on Saturday, sparking fears from her family that she was drugged.
Christy Giles, 24, an aspiring model, was found dead outside Southern California Hospital in Culver City, Los Angeles at around 5 p.m. on Saturday. The woman and her pal, designer Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, were last seen on Friday after heading to a warehouse party.
Two hours after Giles’ body was found, police located her pal, designer Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, at Kaiser Permanente hospital in West Los Angeles in a critical condition, News.com.au reported.
She was allegedly dropped off by the same car and is on life support with no brain activity and “little possibility of recovery.”
Giles and Cabrales-Arzola were last seen on Friday after heading to a warehouse party. While at the L.A. venue, Cabrales-Arzola reportedly met a man, who invited the two to an after-party in the Hollywood Hills,
According to Giles’ husband, Jan Cilliers, he had gathered “all the messages [Christy] exchanged with anybody else that night,” revealing his wife texted Cabrales-Arzola, “let’s get out here” at 5:30 a.m. Giles would then fail to check or answer any messages after that.
He added that footage reveals the moment her body was dumped outside the hospital by three men, who were in all black and hid their faces with bandanas, some 12 hours later. He said they were using a car bearing no license plates, according to the Daily Beast.
Cilliers was in San Francisco at the time of the incident to visit his father. He said the news of his wife's passing was “heartbreaking.”
“People share these amazing videos that they have with her, and it just brings back her energy, and I know I’ll never get to see her or kiss her or touch her again,” he said.
Cilliers further noted that authorities detected traces of heroin in his wife’s body but contended that neither of the women would be willing to take the drug.
“Hilda’s toxicology report came back, and I guess they found heroin in her system, which is nothing that either of those girls would ever do, not voluntarily,” Cilliers said.
The Los Angeles Police Department said preliminary investigation reveals a possible overdose turned fatal. However, Giles' grieving family suspects there was foul play and is seeking justice to be served, according to ABC7.
A complete autopsy from the Coroner’s Office is yet to rule Giles’ cause of death.
Homicide detectives are now examining whether sexual assault had occurred after the women were drugged, which ultimately led to the death of the 24-year-old and left her friend fighting for her life.
