Adriano Moraes will face Demetrious Johnson anew in a rematch set for ONE 161 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Aug. 27.
Moraes vs. Johnson II will be the main event for the upcoming event, a chance for “Mighty Mouse” to avenge his previous loss to the Brazilian at ONE on TNT 1 in April 2021.
In their last meeting, Moraes knocked out Johnson in the second round, a development that shocked many considering most were tipping the 35-year-old MMA fighter an edge.
So far, only Moraes has seen action since then. The 33-year-old faces Yuya Wakamatsu at ONE: X last March, winning via submission to retain the ONE Flyweight title.
On the other hand, Johnson also saw action at ONE: X against Rodtang Jitmuangnon. The American won after he forced Rodtang to submit to a rear-naked choke.
Ironically, Jitmuangnon will also be in action at ONE 161. This time around, he will be facing Savvas Michael in the semifinal round of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix.
The co-main event for ONE 161 will see reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao put his belt on the line against Muay Thai contender Liam Harrison.
Nong-O has so far had five-consecutive World Title defenses, the recent one against Felipe Lobo at ONE X.
Harrison is fresh off a Fight of the Year candidate at ONE 156, where he survived two early knockdowns to defeat Muangthai PK.Saenchai by technical knockout.
Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty, who had to withdraw from the tournament due to illness, will face Amir Naseri in a World Grand Prix alternate bout in the other cards.
Rounding up the other cards on Aug. 26 include a pair of all-action heavyweight clashes with 17-time BJJ World Champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida facing Kirill Grishenko.
Amir Aliakbari will also face Mauro Cerilli in another card for ONE X.
