Mississippi State and defensive coordinator Zach Arnett are in agreement to promote him to head coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He is expected to sign a four-year contract with the school.

Arnett is set to become Mississippi State’s next head coach after former head coach Mike Leach died on Monday from heart complications. Arnett was put in charge of football program after Leach was admitted into the hospital. MSU will play Illinois in the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 2nd in Florida.
Arnett joined the Bulldogs in 2020 as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
